A PSSLAI loan is credit extended by PSSLAI to its own members — active and retired personnel of the Philippine National Police and the Bureau of Fire Protection, together with the Philippine Public Safety College and the National Police Commission. It is not a government benefit and not a bank product. PSSLAI is a member-owned savings and loan association, authorised and regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, and you borrow from it because you are a member who has been building a balance inside it.
That membership is what makes the borrowing limit unusual. A bank sizes your loan on income and credit history alone. PSSLAI sizes it on a fixed multiple of your monthly salary or pension plus whatever you already hold in Capital Contribution and savings. Repayments are then taken automatically — salary deduction for serving personnel, pension deduction for retirees — which is why PSSLAI can approve quickly and release proceeds in as little as one hour.
How your maximum loanable amount is computed
PSSLAI publishes the multiple directly. An active member borrowing against salary can take up to 14 times monthly salary plus investments and deposits. A retired member borrowing against pension can take up to 12 times monthly pension plus investments and deposits. The calculator above applies exactly that rule and nothing else.
A worked example: an active member on ₱35,000 a month with ₱120,000 sitting in CapCon and savings has a ceiling of (14 × ₱35,000) + ₱120,000 = ₱610,000. A retiree on a ₱30,000 pension with the same ₱120,000 balance has a ceiling of (12 × ₱30,000) + ₱120,000 = ₱480,000. The balance you hold matters as much as the multiple — every peso of CapCon raises the ceiling peso for peso.
This is a ceiling, not an approval. PSSLAI still assesses each application, and the product you end up on depends on how much you need and over how long you want to repay. It is also worth knowing what this calculator deliberately does not do: it does not estimate a monthly payment. PSSLAI does not publish a standing interest rate for salary, pension or back-to-back loans, and it does not publish the amortisation method it uses. Rather than show you a monthly figure built on assumptions, we show you the amount and point you at the published product terms.
