What is Pag-IBIG?

Pag-IBIG — formally the Home Development Mutual Fund (HDMF) — is the Philippine government’s national savings and housing finance program. Every formal sector employee is required to contribute monthly. Your contributions earn dividends and accumulate into your Total Accumulated Value (TAV), which forms the basis for your loan eligibility and your lump-sum withdrawal when you retire or leave the program.

For employed members, both you and your employer contribute 2% of your monthly salary each, capped at ₱200 per side. This means a total of ₱400 goes into your Pag-IBIG savings every month regardless of how much you earn above ₱10,000. Beyond the mandatory savings, Pag-IBIG gives you access to multi-purpose loans, calamity loans, and the government’s most affordable housing loan program — making it one of the most directly useful government contributions for regular workers.
